Cheesy Cabbage Bread

A wonderfully tasty and soft cheesy bread. We have Jain guests at home at the moment so no onion and no garlic in their vegetarian dishes. Tried this bread out replacing garlic with cabbage and it came out wonderfully yummy. Garlic bread can be made with the same recipe…just replace the cabbage with garlic.

??????????You will need:
500gm flour

?????????? two 7gm sachets of yeast
2 tbsp of oil (pref olive oil)
1 tbsp honey
finely chopped half a cabbage
25 gm butter or as needed
100 gm grated cheese or as needed
dried herbs such as oregano, thyme, etc

Mix flour, yeast and 1 tsp of salt. Mix 300 ml lukewarm water with oil and honey and pour into the flour mixture and made a dough. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead well. Knead till the flour no longer feels sticky…you may use extra flour if you need. Continue kneading for 5 minutes. Stretch and fit it on a swiss roll tin. Lightly fry the cabbage with the butter and apply mixture over dough. (If you are using garlic, don’t fry, just mix butter and chopped garlic and spread). Sprinkle cheese over this. Sprinkle dried herbs over the cheese. Cover tin with cling film and rest for 40 minutes. Remove clingfilm and bake in 180 deg preheated oven for 30 minutes. It’s done! DSCN4304
